Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize the way we consume and make media. From automating the assembly of stories and articles to personalizing content for individual users, the applications of AI in media are vast and varied. However, with the various opportunities that AI presents for the media industry, there also come significant risks. One such risk is the use of AI for media manipulation and therefore the spread of disinformation.

For years, governments and organizations are using AI to make deep fakes, which are videos and pictures that are manipulated using machine learning to point out people doing or saying things they never did. The technology behind deepfakes has advanced to the purpose where it’s becoming increasingly difficult to detect these manipulations, making it easier for them to be used for nefarious purposes.
